4th Grade Goes to the Polls

The future voters and decision-makers are in our classrooms! Meyer Prep’s 4th Grade Social Studies Class culminated their election this week with speeches for President, Vice-President, Treasurer, Secretary, and Supreme Court Justice. Everybody worked incredibly hard on their campaign posters and speeches. Each student cast their ballot in a private voting booth. The most amazing moments occurred after the winners were announced - students clapped and cheered for each other and only had positive comments for one another!

The winners for our 2020 4th Grade Election:
President: Kaia P.
Vice-President: Mika B.
Secretary: Ava L.
Treasurer: Emily L.
Supreme Court Justice(s): Gabbi R.and Caylah S.

Here are some fun facts about Morah Iris:

Where are you from?

I was born and raised in Jerusalem. I am forever a "Yerushalmit" - ("a Jerusalem Girl").

What is something you love to do outside of school?

I love to read, run, and go to the beach.

What is one of your personal goals?

To be able to deliver to as many children as possible the Hebrew language in a way that will make them feel closer to Judaism, Israel, and its culture.

Where's your 'happy place'?

My home. (whether it is here in PBG or in Jerusalem).

What is something your students might not know about you?

While serving in the IDF (Israel Defense Forces), I was privileged to join the unit I worked with for a parachuting course, and as the only girl, I had to be the first one to jump off the plane ... ✈️

Beautiful Collaborative Artwork for Red Ribbon Week!

During Red Ribbon week, Meyer Prep students discussed making healthy choices. In art class, lower school students created artwork for these wonderful collaborative posters showing how they take care of their bodies and make good choices for themselves. K-2nd Grade (left) students "would be nuts not to be healthy", and 3-5th Graders (right) are "drug-free superheroes"!
