"My family chose Meyer because of the warm, nurturing environment and high level of individualized academics. After both of our kids graduated, as a Meyer family, we gained not only a top-notch education that prepared them for high school and college but a wonderful community of friends.”

        • Your Gift Makes an Impact.

There is no investment more important and meaningful than the investment in our community’s children.

Meyer Prep’s exceptional program is only possible with support from our local community donors. Like most independent schools, Meyer Prep relies on financial support to deliver an outstanding education to our students, as tuition covers only a percentage of the operating expenses of the school each year.  Thank you for your continuous support.

IB Middle School

International Baccalaureate

The Middle School at Meyer Prep is an Authorized International Baccalaureate® Middle Years Programme (“IB MYP”) school. A Blue Ribbon School and an International Baccalaureate World School, Meyer Prep is at the leading edge of middle school education globally.

The academically challenging, advanced curriculum encourages your child to think critically and creatively, making practical connections between studies and the real world, preparing for success in future study and in life. Inquiry is championed.

A personal and educational safe space, Meyer Prep, and specifically the IB MYP environment, helps students understand that failure is a possible, wholly acceptable and useful outcome. It is not a defining trait. This environment intentionally neutralizes the natural stressors that weigh most heavily on students at this age and stage of development so they can focus on learning. Your child further develops as an active learner and internationally minded young person who empathizes with others, accepts personal responsibility, and understands how to become a self advocate while pursuing a life of purpose and meaning.

The IB MYP is perfectly aligned with the Jewish community day school model. The program empowers your child’s inquiry into a wide range of issues and ideas of significance locally, nationally and globally. The result is young people who are creative, critical and reflective thinkers.

“Equipped with a stellar education and a global mindset, my child is
prepared for anything.”

Meyer Prep IB MYP is Enhanced

ALL-INCLUSIVE & "RIGHT SIZED"

In keeping with our academic philosophy and how we implement curriculum, every middle school student is required to participate. Our school size offers an individualized IB learning experience and low student/teacher ratio.

EARN HIGH SCHOOL CREDIT IN MIDDLE SCHOOL

Our rigorous course offerings in Algebra I, Geometry, Hebrew I, and Hebrew II transfer as high school credits, giving graduates the opportunity to explore other coursework and to take higher-level classes as they prepare for college.

bLOCK SCHEDULING

Project-based interdisciplinary work is a key component of IB. Core subjects are scheduled in a block in order to allow extended time for the development of key concepts and in-depth study.

hEBREW AS A SECOND LANGUAGE ACQUISITION

Third and fourth languages are infinitely more likely and more attainable once a second language is achieved. Thought processes honed in language acquisition impact every aspect of the learning cycle.

cOHN fAMILY iNNOVATION lAB

Unique to Meyer, this lab environment is where IB lessons come to life through critical conceptualization, design and application.

IB MYP Curriculum

The International Baccalaureate® (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) aims to help students develop their personal understanding, their emerging sense of self and responsibility in their community. The MYP curriculum comprises eight subject groups and requires at least 50 hours of teaching time for each subject group in each year of the program. Read more about the MYP curriculum here

Mathematics

Promotes both inquiry and application, helping students to develop problem solving techniques that transcend the discipline and that are useful in the world beyond school.

Science

individual and societies

Focusing on real-world examples, research and analysis, students collect, describe and analyze data used in studies of societies, test hypotheses, and learn how to interpret complex information.

language and literature

Develops listening, speaking, reading, writing, viewing, and presenting skills. Inquiry is at the heart of MYP language learning, and aims to support students’ understanding by providing them with opportunities to independently and collaboratively investigate, take action and reflect on their learning.

language ACQUISITION

Provides students with the opportunity to develop insights into the features, processes, and craft of language and the concept of culture.

The Hebrew online program for middle school students, iHebrew, focuses on acquisition of high-level spoken skills and required language
skills, including reading, writing and comprehension. Beginning with the class of 2017, our rigorous IB middle school Hebrew curriculum language acquisition will translate into high school credit for a second language for up to two years, Hebrew I for the 7th grade year and Hebrew II for the 8th grade year.

Kindergarten Hebrew lessons open your child’s mind and heart to their Jewish identity. It is here that the foundation is laid for all future
Hebrew study and application.

art

Stimulates young imaginations, challenges perceptions, and develops creative and analytical skills. Involvement in the arts encourages students to understand the arts in context and the cultural histories of artworks, supporting the development of an inquiring and empathetic world view. Arts challenge and enrich personal identity and build awareness of the aesthetic in a real-world context.

physical and health education
