Arthur I. Meyer Jewish Preparatory School has been an education leader in the lives of South Florida families for the past 46 years. Meyer Prep’s rigorous and meaningful general studies curriculum is woven together with inspiring Jewish studies, resulting in an unparalleled learning experience that fosters an insatiable yearning for discovery and knowledge while nurturing whole child development. From junior kindergarten through eighth grade, students hone collaboration, communication, and critical thinking skills as they learn to respond to challenges with flexible thinking, creativity, and optimism.
Meyer Prep’s Junior Kindergarten (JrK) Program is designed for children ages 4 and 5 who are developmentally ready for a more advanced learning environment taught by talented certified teachers. The program emphasizes cultivating socio-emotional and academic growth through discovery and wonderment while inspiring joy and love for Jewish values and tradition.
Meyer Prep’s proprietary JrK curriculum is founded on research-based principles of inquiry-based learning taught through creativity, imagination, and discovery. With an emphasis on active, engaged, and meaningful learning, the program features foundations for the emergent reader, age-appropriate techniques to build number sense and mathematical thinking, and hands-on innovation and STEAM activities.
Decades of academic research demonstrate how playful learning facilitates development in language, executive functions, scientific thinking, mathematic and spatial skills, as well as social and emotional development. Play is an essential part of a Meyer Prep Junior Kindergartener’s experience and is the vehicle through which children learn in joyful and conceptually rich ways. Students experiment, create, negotiate, develop friendships, and collaborate while learning in an all-new ergonomically designed classroom environment. Exploration, hands-on discovery, and guided investigations throughout the school day make each moment a treasured learning opportunity.
As part of a JrK-8th grade school, Meyer Prep JrK students enjoy a well-rounded education, which includes art, music, yoga mindfulness, drama, movement, and foreign language. Students experience exhilarating challenges in problem-solving and STEAM learning (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics) in Meyer Prep’s Innovation Lab.
Designed with intention to spark discovery and investigation, Meyer Prep’s JrK students and educators explore our world through imaginative play, storytelling, music, and movement. Each day brings new opportunities for thoughtful discussion about our values and how to care for ourselves, our community, and the world.
